Merger of EVA and atlas international Film

Strong independent market player in international film sales

On Monday, August 20, 2007, Entertainment Value Associates GmbH (EVA) has acquired a majority in atlas international Film GmbH (Atlas), the longstanding Munich based and family-run foreign sales company.

EVA managing director Kai Grüneke will join the management of atlas international and together with Stefan and Philipp Menz, the two sons of founder Dieter Menz, shape the future of the well-established sales company. Through the merger, atlas will now have a combined rights portfolio of well over 500 films and TV productions at its disposal.

„With over 40 years of experience in sales and its excellent connections to film buyers as well as producers and actors worldwide, atlas is definitely an ideal partner for EVA," says Kai Grüneke. „The company has an outstandingly functioning infrastructure and also a comprehensive controlling competence for film sales. Together with atlas, we will be creating the best prerequisites to substantially increase the effectiveness of the sales of the 12 film fund portfolios managed by EVA."

atlas founder Dieter Menz adds: "With EVA as an ideal partner, we have strengthened our company’s position in the market and prepared it well for the future. Given the development and consolidation of the global markets, this merger is a strategically important step."

The focus of the joint business operations will continue to be the global marketing of fiction, non-fiction and event productions in all classical - as well as all new distribution channels. In addition, the EVA Group and Atlas International will cooperate to considerably extend their rights catalogue over the next two years through acquisition and distribution of new attractive exploitation rights. For this purpose, EVA has already secured a substantial financial cushion from American financial investors.

The joint market presence will commence with MIPCOM at the beginning of October in Cannes and continue at the AFM in Santa Monica at the beginning of November. „At the coming film markets we will have surprises in store with our commitment in new international productions", reveals Kai Grüneke.

"EvaApollo Media, an EVA subsidiary, has accumulated knowhow in film financing and production as a co-producer on almost one hundred international productions. Combine this with atlas’ 40 years of experience in sales and you get a very attractive package for both film producers and film buyers" says Dieter Menz, summing up the purpose of the merger.

Founded by Dieter Menz in 1967, the core business of Munich-based atlas international Film GmbH is the worldwide licensing of feature films as well as series and documentaries for all media. Since 1970, the lineup consists of both German and foreign productions. Today, the portfolio of atlas covers more than 400 high-quality titles from over 120 producers. In the passed 40 years, atlas has closed more than 12,000 license agreements.

EVA was founded in 2006. The company headquarters are in Neubiberg/Munich. The shareholders are Odeon Film AG and Kai Grüneke. The managing directors are Kai Grüneke and David Groenewold (board chairman of Odeon Film AG). EVA's areas of business are international coproduction and financing, international film sales as well as services for - and management of film funds. With the acquisition of Apollo Media Filmmanagement GmbH, now operating as EvaApollo Media GmbH, EVA was also able to win one of the largest German management companies for film funds as a partner at the end of 2006.
